CENTAC JET (PONDICHERY CENTRALISED ADMISSION COMMITTEE JOINT ENTANCE TEST)

Introduction

Pondichery Centralised Admission Committee Joint Entrance Test (CENTAC JET) is an entrance examination conducted for admission to various courses like engineering, medical, dental and law in colleges of Pondicherry by Centralised Admission Committee. Admission through JET in B.Tech course is available in Pondicherry Engineering College(PEC) & Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Institute of Engg., & Tech., Karaikal.

There are a total of 450 seats available in Pondicherry Engineering College and 180 seats in Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Institute of Engineeringg & Technology. 85% seats in both colleges are reserved for Pondicherry candidates while rest of the seats are open to all India candidates. There is no entrance test for B.Tech entrance. Admission is based on the marks secured in Mathematics, Physics and any one of the following optional subjects : Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology.

Eligibility

Admission into the 1st semester of B.Tech. degree program is made on the basis of marks obtained on JET and qualifying examination (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics). The marks obtained in the qualifyingexamination and JET is accounted in the ratio of 1:1.

Educational Qualification:

The educational qualification for admission into 1st semester of B. Tech.degree program is H.Sc. or an equivalent examination with minimum of 50% marks. An aspiring candidate must have studied Mathematics and Physics with Computer Science / Chemistry / Biology (Botany & Zoology) or Bio-Technology at H.Sc. or an equivalent academic level.

Improvement marks secured in the first improvement attempt will be considered.

Age Limit:

A candidate’s age should not be less than 17 years and more than 21 years in the fall of December in the year in which he / she want to appear in JET – Joint Entrance Test, Pondicherry. A 3 year age relaxation in upper age limit is given in case of schedule castes (SC) and schedule tribes (ST) category candidates.
